CSZ EDI Survey 2026

The Canadian Society of Zoologists (CSZ) is conducting a survey of Canadians, permanent residents, and work/study visa holders who are doing zoological research in Canada to 1) understand the diversity of zoological researchers in Canada; 2) understand if the CSZ membership is representative of overall Canadian zoology; 3) understand where the CSZ is excelling or lagging behind on its EDI mandate; and 4) to determine where to focus our EDI efforts within and outside the society.

The Canadian Society of Zoologists strives to be a diverse and inclusive not-for-profit scientific society that welcomes members of any age, gender identity or expression, race, ethnicity, colour, cultural background, religion, place of origin, pregnancy or parental role, sexual orientation, ability, or socio-economic situation. The society aims to reflect this diversity at all levels, ranging from participation at meetings, to representation on council and committees, to the recipients of its awards. The Canadian Society of Zoologists is proud to promote and support equality for all individuals interested in zoology.

We recognize that we are offering this survey in only English and French. It is our aspiration to provide future efforts in other languages, including those of the First Nations of Canada.

Respondents who complete the survey will have the opportunity to enter their name into a draw for CSZ prizes (swag, annual membership, banquet tickets, etc.).

This survey is to be completed by anyone working on zoological research in Canada or Canadians abroad.

The survey will take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete.

This survey is anonymous.

The record of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you, unless a specific survey question explicitly asked for it.

If you used an identifying token to access this survey, please rest assured that this token will not be stored together with your responses. It is managed in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether you did (or did not) complete this survey. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses.
