Sexual Health Behaviours and STI Prevention Survey

Researchers at Mount Allison University and New Brunswick Public Health are interested in understanding postsecondary students’ behaviours related to sexual health, STI prevention, and awareness of sexual health services.

This survey is for postsecondary students enrolled in a college or university in the Zone 1 Health Region (Moncton and South East New Brunswick.) In the survey, you will be asked questions about your sexual behaviours, attitudes, and sexual health practices. You will also be asked about sexual health services in the region. Our goal is to understand the sexual health behaviours of postsecondary students and improve educational campaigns and services. The survey will take approximately 20 minutes.

There is no expected risks associated with completing this task; however, you may choose to skip any questions that make you uncomfortable or do not wish to answer. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you can withdraw from the study at any time by either closing your browser or by clicking the button in the top right corner of the survey to delete your data. If you only close your browser, we will use the data already entered.

All information obtained in the survey will be anonymous. At the end of the study, you will be invited to enter a draw for a $50 gift card from a place of your choosing. We will be offering 2 per school. You will be asked to enter your name and email address, but the identifying information will be in a separate survey, and we will not be able to link your data with your name. This information will be kept strictly confidential.

If you give us your permission by completing and submitting the survey, we plan to discuss/publish the results in an academic forum. Only members of the research team will have access to the original dataset, which will be stored on a password-locked computer. The data you provide may be used by the research team, or shared with other researchers, for both related and unrelated research purposes in the future. Your (anonymous) data may also be made available in online data repositories such as the Open Science Framework, which allow other researchers and interested parties to access the data for further analysis. Only numerical data will be included, any answers that were manually typed will not be included in the shared database.

This study will be completed on LimeSurvey, which is an online survey service. Data will be stored in the University of New Brunswick servers and will not leave Canada. Only people with the password would be able to access the data.
